A fellow runway patternmaker at Vera Wang Collections & Bridal, Ltd. once gave me some valuable advice: 

“Learn how to do your craft 99% as well and twice as fast.”

Perfectionism has its merits, but it's a paralyzing affliction many designers can't control. There are times when it may be questionable to expend a high amount of resources to achieve only 1% of additional quality. 

I work with business colleagues about ways we can measure the quality of our products and their improvements. I work with consumers to learn what quality means to them and how it manifests in the product. 

From being a businessowner and a producer, I've learned the importance of defining and measuring quality.
